Longcliffe has a laboratory on site dedicated to the research of all aspects of calcium carbonate manufacture and for the development of new products, through advances in chemistry and science.
The inherent quality of our limestone is the cornerstone for the continued improvement of existing products as well as the development of new, innovative product lines based on limes, hydrates and precipitates produced from our natural calcium carbonate.
On-going projects include the development of new calcination techniques for producing super reactive limes and hydrates offering increased efficiencies for end users in high value applications. Other programmes include intensive research into precipitated and nano calcium carbonates for use as functional fillers and rheological additives in plastics and sealant formulations.
We are also investigating and developing production processes that will enable us to tailor the quality of our products to the specific requirements of customers, particularly as these relate to grade uniformity.
All research programmes consider the environmental benefits and impacts of any new product developments to ensure a lasting legacy and secure a permanent future for the company, its work force and the local community.
Whatever the application, Longcliffe’s continuous investment in innovation and advanced process engineering will enable us to help our customers meet the challenges of the 21st century and beyond.
