Longcliffe ground calcium carbonate (GCC) is increasingly being used as a cement replacement in concrete and pre-cast concrete products
Longcliffe has traditional supplied limestone aggregates/ballast for concrete and blinding applications but we are increasingly supplying fine fillers as a replacement for Portand cement in many types of concreting applications.
The use of ground calcium carbonate (GCC) can improve concrete density, surface finish, the performance of the concrete in its plastic and hardened states, and gives a lighter coloured concrete suitable for architectural applications. In addition it can also help achieve improvements in environmental performance as it results in substantially lower CO2 emissions compared to Portland cement.
Ground calcium carbonate (GCC) is increasingly being used in applications, such as precast concrete products (block paving, paving slabs, roof tiles), ready mixed concrete and self compacting concrete (SCC). The uptake of SCC technology within UK has grown rapidly in recent years, particularly in precast concrete.
