Limestone produced by Longcliffe brings massive economic and environmental benefits to the whole of the UK. Major construction related uses of our limestone include:
Limestone blocks and polished panels are a decorative and tasteful choice for architects and builders.
Longcliffe limestone is especially impressive when its inner beauty is unlocked by polishing. As an interior design choices in floor tiles or wall panels our limestone creates a tasteful, cool and serene atmosphere. For exterior work, pure limestone has a natural radiance which becomes especially apparent when the building is struck by sunlight.
The highest grade is monumental stone. This is a very uniform limestone with few surface imperfections. These properties make it ideal for carving and limestone of this class can hold very fine detail when used in sculpture, headstones, plaques, or ornamental features.
Longcliffe has traditional supplied limestone aggregates/ballast for concrete and blinding applications but we are increasingly supplying fine fillers as a cement replacement in many types of concreting applications.
The use of ground calcium carbonate (GCC) can improve concrete density, surface finish, the performance of the concrete in its plastic and hardened states, and gives a lighter coloured concrete suitable for architectural applications.
It is increasingly being used in applications, such as precast concrete products (block paving, paving slabs, roof tiles), ready mixed concrete and self compacting concrete (SCC).
The uptake of SCC technology within UK has grown rapidly in recent years, particularly in precast concrete.
Quarried from the finest selected limestone, our broad range construction aggregates are renowned for their consistency and quality.
Longcliffe aggregates, chatter and MOT type roadstone have been used as a fill material in roadbed formation, drainage & pitching projects, pipe bedding and for foundation footings in numerous local building projects.
