CHRISTMAS SPONSORSHIP GIFT SEES WIRKSWORTH FOOTBALLERS PLAYING IN A NEW KIT

Footballers playing for the over 100 years old Wirksworth Ivanhoe Club are sporting a new kit, thanks to an early Christmas present in the shape of a local sponsorship boost.

Both the first and reserve teams are running out in a new green kit, which has been paid for mainly by local company Longcliffe Quarries Ltd who have donated £1000 towards the total costs.

Club Chairman Kevin Vallance said: “Over the last few years, we have seen the Club go from strength to strength. In 2011 we reformed the Reserve team; four years ago, we were promoted and then this summer we built two new dugouts. Having a brandnew strip and a major sponsor has given us another boost for the future of the Club.

“It’s fantastic to have Longcliffe on board as a major sponsor and we hope to have a very successful 2023/24 season.”

Paul Boustead, Longcliffe Group Managing Director, added: “Like this Club, Longcliffe has had a long history in the local area – the company will be 100 years old in 2027. We are proud to be able to support this successful, well established football team and give them a Christmas boost.”
